Genealogy
and Your Renovated Photographs
There is no better way to share family history with far-flung relatives than by e-mailing restored copies of family photographs. By sharing photographs you revive memories and renew relationships. If you construct a genealogy chart of your family you can bring it to life by including photographs of your kin. While it is not advisable to expose heirloom photographs to light for extended periods, restored photographs are ideal for display. The paper/ink combination I use has been tested for permanence. Prints displayed under glass are estimated to last for at least 65 years without fading or color shift, and for 200 years when enclosed in an album. You can contribute to genealogical research by uploading your family photographs to a genealogy website. Many of these websites specialize in reconstructing the history of a particular family line, or the historical demography of a geographic region.
